The mission of this working group is the rational quantification of the effects of uncertainties on the performance and reliability of engineering structures. It is supported entirely by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF). There is no personnel support through the university. Hence the interim activity is performed separately from the Unit for Applied Mechanics (Angewandte Mechanik).
The developed methodologies can be applied to problems in fields such as aerospace, civil, mechanical, off-shore engineering. Ultimately, the developed analysis tools can be effectively deployed in the quality assurance of mechanical components used in the above fields.
